Ground Investigation in relation to the Keston Ponds Project

The objectives of the ground investigation are:

• Characterisation of the embankment dam structures in terms of composition, stratigraphy, and internal condition;

• Assessment of seepage pathways, groundwater regime, and hydraulic connectivity between ponds;

• Provide geotechnical parameters for the design of foundations for replacement footbridge structures at locations confirmed by the Supervising Engineer.

• Characterisation of soils within the proposed river restoration corridor and wetland creation areas;

• To monitor the variation in existing groundwater levels within the floodplain prior to restoration works to establish a baseline;

• Environmental and waste classification of arisings in support of the earthworks strategy.
