Barbican Renewal Programme - Construction logistics services.

• Site-wide construction logistics service supporting the refurbishment of the existing, occupied Barbican Centre, let as a Trade Contract under a Construction Management approach with Blue Sky Building appointed as Construction Manager. The logistics strategy continues to be developed alongside the programme, design and possession strategy.

• Logistics management and labour: Logistics Manager, supervisors, general logistics operatives, traffic marshals/banksmen, hoist/lift operators, slingers/signallers, gatemen/security, welfare/cleaning staff, fire marshals and out-of-hours/weekend cover.

• Site accommodation and welfare: survey of the existing accommodation/welfare facilities for re-use, adaptation and ongoing operation for the project duration, assessed against condition, capacity, servicing and the anticipated workforce/programme, with any additional temporary accommodation identified.

• Site security and access control: hoarding and temporary fencing, pedestrian/vehicle gates, turnstiles, access-control systems, CCTV/security interfaces and visitor management.

• Traffic and delivery management: delivery booking system, traffic marshals, unloading areas, vehicle/pedestrian segregation, temporary signage, road/pavement protection and cleaning, permits and suspensions.

• Vertical and horizontal distribution: hoists and/or gantry cranes (with operators) and associated scaffold ramps, platforms and Haki stairs; pallet trucks, trolleys, forklifts/telehandlers, stair climbers, temporary scaffold, edge protection and boarding associated with the logistics scope.

• Cranes and lifting: coordination of tower crane use, including appointed person(s), lift supervisors, slingers/signallers and banksmen, plus associated lifting equipment.

• Temporary works and access: temporary stairs, walkways, edge protection, handrails, loading platforms, opening protection, scaffold interfaces and temporary works associated with the logistics installations.

• Waste management: bins and segregation, floor-by-floor collection, skips, compactors, removal/disposal, hazardous-waste arrangements, transfer documentation and environmental reporting.

• Protection and housekeeping: protection to floors, stair nosings, walls, corners, lifts, doors and retained finishes; temporary screens/partitions, dust control, daily housekeeping and builders'/final cleans.

• Fire and emergency logistics: temporary fire points/extinguishers, interface with the temporary fire alarm, emergency signage/routes, fire marshals, fire drills and muster-point management.

• Surveying and setting out: establishment, verification and maintenance of project gridlines, datums and control points.

• Environmental and stakeholder management: dust/noise/vibration monitoring, dust suppression, acoustic barriers, cleaning, environmental reporting and logistics support at interfaces with the public, residents and neighbouring occupiers.

• Sundry logistics: temporary signage, radios, barriers/cones, temporary doors/locks, handyman activities, consumables, pest control, winter treatment, water management/pumping and emergency call-outs.
