Virtual School - Clinical Psychology Led Education Support

Liverpool City Council, through Liverpool Virtual School, has awarded a contract for the provision of a clinical psychology-led education support service for children in care, previously looked-after children, and children with a social worker.

The service will provide psychology-informed consultation, advice, workforce development and strategic support to schools, educational settings, social care professionals, carers and Virtual School staff across Liverpool.

The contract includes:

~Trauma-informed and attachment-aware consultation for professionals and carers;

~Workforce training and development programmes;

~Reflective supervision and professional support for practitioners;

~Advice and guidance to support educational planning, inclusion and participation;

~Support for multi-agency working and partnership development;

~Strategic advice and capacity-building support for Liverpool Virtual School;

~Development of psychologically informed practice across education and children's services.

The service aims to improve educational outcomes, well-being, engagement and participation in education by increasing understanding of the impact of trauma, attachment, adversity and developmental experiences on children and young people. The service is educational and consultative in nature and does not include the provision of clinical assessment, diagnosis, therapy or treatment.

The services will be delivered through a combination of face-to-face and online meetings, training sessions, workshops, consultations, supervision sessions and strategic support activities across Liverpool.
