Description

Shropshire Council (the Council) is preparing to re-tender the contract for Substance Use Services. We are looking to engage with potential providers of Drug and Alcohol Treatment and Recovery Services at virtual engagement sessions to discuss the possible future delivery of these services across Shropshire.

In December 2021, the government published a 10-year drugs plan, 'From Harm to Hope', which committed to additional funding in England up to 2025.

As a result, the Council received funding via the Supplemental Substance Misuse Treatment and Recovery Grant (SSMTRG) and the Rough Sleeping Drug and Alcohol Treatment Grant (RSDATG) to deliver several initiatives across the county that support and enhance substance use services. From 2026, these funding streams now form part of the Public Health Grant and as such, any future commissioning activity will be subject to the availability of grant funding and local and national approval.

The Council would like at this stage in the development to engage with the market around commissioning and contract considerations prior to formulating any formal opportunity. This will be advertised in Summer 2026, with the service beginning in April 2027.

Please note that this is not the commencement of any formal procurement process, and the Council is not committed to carrying out such a process.

The contract value and contract dates provided, including the extension end date, are estimates only and may be subject to change. We cannot guarantee their accuracy at this stage.
