W5074 Former Gas Holders Development - Legal Support
Description
The Council is looking to redevelop the site known as the Former Gasholders, Darlaston Road, Walsall.
The site is a strategic delivery priority for the Council as part of the Black Country Enterprise Zone and is allocated as 'Potential High-Quality Industry' in the Walsall Site Allocation Document (SAD). The site is a significant opportunity based on its connectivity being adjacent to the M6 and upcoming industrial developments in proximity. The proposed redevelopment would assist in generating new employment, training, and business opportunities in Walsall.
The project will involve transformation of this approximately 9.3-hectare brownfield site into a modern industrial estate suitable for logistics, light manufacturing, and warehousing. The scope is anticipated to include site remediation, enabling works, infrastructure upgrades, construction of industrial units, and provision of sustainable utilities.
Legal services are required for the various workstreams, including:
• Land Assembly and potential CPO
• Procurement
• Legal structure and drafting Heads of Terms and final documents (e.g. development agreement, grant funding agreement, warranties)
• Legal negotiations and completion of appropriate agreements.
• Subsidy control considerations
• Planning
• Environmental law
